Jason McLean was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of McLean Group in 2010 following eight years in various senior roles within the company. Jason leads McLean Group’s businesses, overseeing strategic goals, capital decisions, and all major transactions in each of McLean Group’s operating and investment businesses, as well as coordinating dialogue between McLean Group ownership and company management. Jason is particularly committed to supporting and empowering individual business leaders across the McLean Group portfolio and over the last decade has focused on ensuring that the businesses have the right capital structure and financing to achieve their goals.
Jason is a graduate of the UBC School of Law and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2000 after articling with Stikeman Elliot in Vancouver and currently maintains his credentials through McLean & McLean, McLean Group’s internal law firm where he is the long-suffering junior partner. Prior to joining McLean Group, Jason worked in the Office of the Prime Minister of Canada. He is a certified member of the Institute of Corporate Directors and in 2010 graduated from Harvard Business School’s Owner President Management Program.
In addition to his roles with McLean Group, Jason gives his time to multiple boards and community organizations. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of the Vancouver Foundation, Canada’s largest community foundation, and is a Governor (past Chair) of the Vancouver Board of Trade. He recently served on the UBC Board of Governors where he chaired the Governance Committee and is a past board member of the Vancouver Police Board where he chaired the Finance Committee. In 2014, Jason, along with his brother Sacha, was recognized by Ernst & Young for the Entrepreneur of the Year Award Pacific in the category of Entertainment and Hospitality. Sacha McLean -
Sacha has been a Partner of the McLean Group of Companies for 22 years and in 1999 was a founder of Vancouver Film Studios, one of Canada’s largest film and television production facilities that today includes 12 sound stages and production offices, a theatrical lighting and grip services company (Pacific Backlot Services), a telecommunications division (Signal Systems), an aerial film unit (Blackcomb Helicopters), and a factual television production division (Gun Lake Pictures). He is also Chair of 50° North Productions, a scripted television production company founded in 2015. Sacha is also a Director of KCTS Television based in Seattle.
A commercial helicopter and jet pilot for over 24 years, in 1999 and 2006, Sacha led the expansion of McLean Group’s aviation interests, resulting in the establishment of Blackcomb Helicopters, a helicopter charter company operating a large and varied fleet of aircraft, out of seven permanent bases on the west coast of Canada.
Sacha gives generously of his time to the community and is the Chair of YPO-BC (Young President’s Organization) and serves as Finance Chair and Director of West Point Grey Academy as well as a Director of the Southlands Riding Club. Former community board positions include several years on the Faculty Advisory Board of the Sauder School of Business at UBC, the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, and as Vice Chair of the Whistler Film Festival.
Sacha has had a lifelong passion for filmed entertainment, both in front of and behind the camera. Throughout his career, he has developed and created several factual programs and has led a team to create an industry leading scripted television production company. He has also produced numerous corporate productions over the years.
Sacha was a winner of an Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2014 with his brother, Jason, and is a Business In Vancouver 40 Under 40 Award winner. He earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree from Queen’s University in Urban Geography as well as studies in Film Production. He has completed the Families in Business program at Harvard University.
John Morris - General Manager
Mr. John Morris is a co-owner of Blackcomb Helicopters, Ltd. and serves as its General Manager. Mr. Morris served as the President and Operations Manager of Omega Aviation, Inc. He is a original founder of its Vancouver based jet charter, helicopter, and aircraft maintenance division, Omega Aviation. His career began in 1975 when he was flying float planes off the west coast of British Columbia. Mr. Morris later moved into the business of managing and flying various transport category aircraft and in 1980, commenced his extensive helicopter career. He serves as a Director of Blackcomb Helicopters, Ltd. Mr. Morris holds airline transport licenses for both fixed wing and helicopters and has over 16000 flight hours.
Andrew Bradley - Operations Manager
Mr. Andrew Bradley serves as Operations Manager of Blackcomb Helicopters, Ltd. He has 22 years of experience in flying light, intermediate and medium type helicopters in Canada and South America. Mr. Bradley is endorsed on 7 different helicopter types and is a Designated Approved Check Pilot (DACP) representing Transport Canada on pilot proficiency checks. He is the recipient of the Helicopters Association of Canada Pilot Safety Award for 7640 accident free flying hours.
Alejandra Sorto - Director of Finance
Alejandra Sorto was appointed Director of Finance to the McLean Group in 2017. Alejandra began her career with the Company in 2009, when she was hired as Controller for Blackcomb Helicopters LP. A trusted and capable accounting manager, Alejandra is relied upon to oversee all finance and control activities for Blackcomb Helicopters as well as provide strategic and financial advice for other McLean Group business entities. Alejandra has a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of British Columbia, Sauder School of Business, and holds both her Chartered Professional Account (CPA) and Chartered Accountant (CA) designations. Prior to her tenure with the McLean Group, Alejandra worked as a Senior Accountant for Wolrige Mahon LLP. Alejandra is the mother of twin girls and enjoys exploring the outdoors with her family.
Wendy Parliament - Legal Services Manager
Wendy is a senior corporate paralegal and oversees legal services for McLean Group and all of its portfolio companies.
Wendy handles a variety of in-house corporate and business transactions, managing projects from commencement to closing, liaising with senior management and external legal counsel and reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors. Wendy has been appointed as a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in BC specific to McLean Group transactions.
She has an extensive legal background from previous employment with prominent Vancouver law firms, has presented at Continuing Legal Education seminars, and sits on various advisory committees.
Tracy Rogers - Director of Human Resources
Tracy Rogers is Director of Human Resources for McLean Group and all of its portfolio companies.
Prior to joining McLean Group she was Director of HR (Western Canada) for Unisource Canada, Inc., an international distribution company with locations in Canada, the United States and Mexico, where she provided HR direction to more than 1500 employees at 14 different branches and seven unionized locations. She has expertise in employee and management restructuring ventures associated with mergers and acquisitions, and has also been an independent consultant specializing in labour relations, performance management and employment standards.
Tracy earned a Master of Business Administration from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literature from the University of British Columbia. She holds a Diploma in HR Management from BCIT and holds her CPHR (Chartered Professional Human Resources) designation.
